In order to get the works read and recognised by academia, he approaches a group of friends studying for their degrees at a University, to read the works and possibly use his works for their thesis/dissertation
They all basically laugh the man off, for thinking he has discovered such important information about how the world works
One of the group, a woman, agrees to read one of the 7 parts of the "Book Of Shadows" the man has written. Though she is only doing it out of the goodness of her heart, taking pity on the man for the others laughing at him
She reads the Book and afterwards strange things start happening
She realises that not only is the information the man has written in the Book correct. It is more powerful than the man claimed
Her insight grants her particular "abilities" over other people and the world around her
Abilities she decides others should not know about. Not because of their potential, but because it would/could take away the potential of her advantage in this world
She excels in everything she is doing. Academia and Sport at an Olympic level
But she does not write about what was in the Book, or share it with the world, like the man wanted her too
She instead picks another topic, and begs with the man to keep the information between themselves. Claiming that others should not be given such knowledge
The man is saddened by this
He tells her that he had, in the past, tried giving the information to a group of old, prominent men. Those who were supposed to be wise, who would help him give it to the world
They did the exact same thing that she was doing. They saw the opportunity to exploit the information and wanted to keep it a secret
This is why he decided to try give it to some younger students. Hoping that they may/might not be as corruptable
Sure assures him that she is not "corrupted" and will do no harm with that he gave her
But she also asks to be allowed to read the order 6 books he has written
When she is insistent on it, to the point of appearing manic, he refuses and decides to cut ties with her
But, he warns her that the information she has given cannot be used for personal gain. In the hands of the many, it would be mostly harmless. It would likely bring everyone together in harmony
But in the hands of the few, it is too powerful. It corrupts easily, because the knowledge of how the world works and what it is, should be known by all, not the few
The only people who can handle the temptation of misusing this information are those pure of heart. Those of good intention
She tries to assure him she is of good heart and intention and would not misuse it
He tells her, the fact she wants to keep it secret, means she is exactly the opposite
And lastly, he warms her, that the corruption will come back to haunt her. Regardless of how careful she thinks she is with it
The balance for everything gained, will come back on her and take things from her
He warns her to be careful
Later she calls him, scared. She asks for his help because the world is "falling to pieces around her"
She asks him to meet her at the museum where students are allowed to study at night
No others are around when he attends
Something is indeed happening to her
Some full horror movie type things
He asks for the printed, physical copy of the Book "The seed and the mirror" he had given her back and she gives it to him
But this doesn't stop what is happening
Shadows are literally coming to life and stalking them around the museum
He tells her that she is manifesting deep-seeded pain. That they are being attacked by her fears
She agrees that she used to be afraid of what was in the dark as a child
Eventually, a version of her climbs onto his back (very physically) like a succubus and demands he gives her the other books
She is manifesting her fears, exactly like he said she was, but she is not really scared. She is acting. They are not being attacked by them, she is controlling them
She has set a trap for him. To try force him to give her the other 6 books
When it doesn't work and he refuses to give her the information, she details her plans to kill him, if he doesn't give her the other books
She would paint him out to be a psycho stalker, who had become obsessed with her. And with all he has been studying, his search history on his computer alone would be enough to convince anyone, that he had tried to kill her
Even the messages she had been sending "Please! I'm scared. You need to stop this". Nobody would have any clue what they were talking about. It sounds like he is stalking her
She uses his teachings of the seed and mirror, to mirror him
She seeks out his fears, to manifest them and use them against him
This manifests a large Doberman, with glowing horrible eyes
He is terrified. She forces him into sharing why he is terrified of the dog, as it circles them in the darkness
He watched someone get mauled to death as a child
She brings the dog right up close to him, face to face
She tells him that she kept the Book, she was meant to have given back to him. She scanned it into a digital copy, before she gave it back. She tells him not to worry, it is password protected on her computer. Nobody can access it. But she is keeping it
Just like, so she tells him, she will be keeping all his other books. Once she has finished with him, she will go get them. She just needs him to show her where they are. She plants the seed of a fear of her finding the books in his head, so she can reflect it, manifest it, and see where he hid the books
Then suddenly she realises, he isn't actually afraid. He is also acting
He laughs at her and the dog turns it's attention to her
He tells her it is a pity that she'll never get to read his other books. Especially, one part in particular called: Death and the loss of fear
"Did you forget who wrote these books?"
The Doberman mauls her. It rips her throat out and kills her
They see sequels to this with her boyfriend (from the first movie)
As well as another sequel/sequels involving her friends, who were the other people in the group the man originally offered the books too, that laughed at him
In these movies, they are suddenly very interested in knowing what was in the books. Because they bore witness to their effect on the girl
They knew all about the power it gave her, though she refused to share the contents with her
In one of them, they crack the password on the digital copy of the book on her computer
I won't detail more of the plot online. But it would make an awesome horror/thriller series
Called "Book of shadows"
